Hey since the post is really really long with lots of pictures and stuff I'm just going to link it on my tumblr kytri.tumblr.com/post/16357517…

I'm doing a small discount for tabletop RPG player characters. If that interests you you should check out my commission pricelist.

A couple deviantart specific notes:
I do not accept deviantart points as payment. I take commissions to pay my bills and none of those things can be paid for in deviantart points. There is also no overlap in the list of things you can buy with points and the list of things I want or need.

If you're going to send me hate mail or threats over my commission prices, just, don't. There must be something better you can do with your time. Don't be an asshole to artists.
Oh god it's deviantart. I hate this website but I'm back?
Oh god.

Okay so, I kinda moved over to tumblr and twitter for most of my art stuff ages ago. But everything is terrible everywhere and I still somehow have way more reach here than on any other site. I don't know how that even happened. Anyway tumblr could implode at any minute, I feel.

I'm not going to post super regularly but I'll post some stuff some of the time. I'f you want announcements about livestreams and comic updates please follow me on tumblr kytri.tumblr.com or twitter twitter.com/kytri
Also I have an instagram but it's mostly just selfies and sketches and pics of my cat. www.instagram.com/secretcollec…

Haha wow my money situation is looking pretty bad right now. It’s never great but I’m on the cusp of going on an all ramen noodle diet over here. I’ve been looking for a new day job without any luck so far. I’m not sure what will happen if/when I find a day job. Depending on how much and what sort of work it is I might have to severely cut back on how much art I do.

Anyway if you like my work and would like to help me out long term please check out my Patreon. Right now I make about $360 a month from it, which is extremely helpful but my month to month living expenses are nearly twice that.  The lowest pledge amount is only $1 a month so it’s quite affordable.

Otherwise if you would like some sweet art I also take commissions.

Commission Info!

I can draw you things! Yay!

These prices are for digital commissions for personal use. If you would like a traditional commission the base prices will be similar but I will have to charge more to cover cost of materials and shipping. If you would like art for commercial use, please contact me directly as I charge differently for that kind of thing.

Please email me at secretcollect@gmail.com or kytri@skyscrapersoup.com if you are interested in me drawing something for you.

Anyway: prices!

Busts: any drawing of a character from only the waist or chest up.

Just a sketch: $10

With ink: $20

Flat tones: $25 for grayscale $30 for color

Fully painted: $35 for grayscale $40 for color

Full body: any drawing that shows an entire character from head to toe

Just a sketch: $20

With ink: $40

Flat tones: $45 for grayscale $50 for color

Fully painted: $55 for grayscale $60 for color

I’ve got 4 slots open each month.

Add ons:

Additional characters: A second character costs half the price of the first one. So for example if you got a full body sketch at $20 the second character would cost $10 thus making the total $30, a third character would be an additional $10, making the new total $40.

Backgrounds, pets, and props: I typically leave backgrounds transparent or a flat neutral color. If you would like a different color just ask. For complicated backgrounds and large animals or props consider them as additional characters in terms of price. Medium sized animals or props cost the same as an additional bust. Small props or animals are free.

Prop/animal examples:
Large: a motorcycle, a piano, a horse. If an ordinary person cannot lift it easily it is considered large.
Medium: a cat or dog, a guitar, a large or ornate weapon. If an ordinary person would need to use both arms to lift it it is considered medium.
Small: a bird, a book, a small or simple looking weapon. If it’s easily held in one hand it’s considered small.
There are of course going to be cases where it’s not clear what size something would count as. I usually err on the side of whatever is cheaper unless the item in question is very detailed or there is more than one of them. Feel free to ask if you’re not sure.

Accent colors: you can add one accent color to anything black and white for free if it’s a flat color and $5 if it is painted.

Something not already on this list: I charge $20 an hour for extra stuff if there isn’t a price already, going in 15 minute increments. So if the thing you want takes 15 minutes it’s $5, or $10 for half an hour, and so on. Additional things that take less than 5 minutes total are free. I draw pretty fast so that time may go further than you think.

Preemptive question answering:

I’m not sure how much the thing I want will cost and/or I cannot afford it.

Contact me and I’ll help you figure it out! I like to think I’m a reasonable person and am willing to work with you so hopefully everyone can get what we want. For example if you want something very complicated and fully painted but don’t have the money to get it all at once you could commission the sketch one month and then come back another month a pay the difference to have it finished.

I don’t have any reference images, is that okay?

No problem! I can draw from a description.

Will you draw adult stuff/what won’t you draw?

Sexy drawings are a-okay, and I don’t dislike drawing them. I will not draw things that are both sexual and violent (e.g. rape or guro) or anything featuring children or animals in a sexual context, though I may make an exception for anthro stuff if it’s tasteful. If you’re not sure just ask and I’ll tell you if I’m comfortable drawing it.

What you’re favorite stuff to draw?

My favorite commissions are for people’s original characters! Other than that I like drawing hot boys and LGBTQIA+ themed stuff. I also like monsters.

How do I pay you?

I prefer paypal and I prefer payment before the commission is delivered. If you’d like to use a different method please ask. I am flexible.

For adult stuff I’m still trying to figure it out. Paypal doesn’t allow payments for adult content and is extremely strict about it. Worst case scenario you can mail me a check or money order.

How long will it take you to finish my drawing?

Usually not very long. I know people who have bought and paid for commissions from other artists and waited months or years for the finished drawing. I will not do that to you. You’ll get your art no more than two months from the date you pay for it. So if you pay for your drawing on September 1 you will have the finished art on, and probably well before, October 31. If for whatever reason I can’t fulfill that I’ll offer to refund you.

I cannot afford a commission but would still like to support you. How do?

Free ways to support me: You can share my art posts on social media! You can read and share my webcomic or my other webcomic or any of my art. You can turn off adblock when visiting my website.

Not free ways to support me: Patreon is a monthly donation service. There are prizes depending on your pledge. Check it out! Storenvy is where you can buy books of my comics and other things. I stock and ship the items for this store myself so any money you spend here goes to me after fees from the credit cards and such. You can buy shirts and various other stuff with my art on it at Society6 or Teepublic. Teepublic gives me a slightly higher commission so I’m in the process of migrating my stuff over.

Can you do art for my book/comic/other for profit venture?

Possibly! I charge differently for work that’s intended to be resold or otherwise involves transfer of IP rights. Shoot me an email and we can try to figure something out.

I have a different question!

Just Ask! Again my contact email is secretcollect@gmail.com or kytri@skyscrapersoup.com if you just have a question you can email me or send me an ask here on tumblr. Thanks for taking the time to read all this if you did! <3

Commission slots for August:

Hi friends!

I set up a small GoFundMe campaign for preordering the next book.
If you want a copy of volume five please use this to order it.

You can also get a cool cast poster. Or, if you like, order a copy of book one since I am also going to  print more of them.

Books will be shipped out after I get home from Katsucon on February 16.
Today is December 10, which means I've doing webcomics for 12 years. Fuck.

I don't use Deviantart a whole lot anymore but just to keep you posted here's a little update.

I'm very sick. I think I have mono. I went to the doctor a week ago, even though I really can't afford it, they took some blood because they think there may be something wrong with my liver. I haven't heard back yet, which is pretty upsetting. Meanwhile I'm in a fair amount of pain and have even less energy than usual. If you'd like to keep up with my life more you should follow me on tumblr

In happier news my patreon is doing pretty well. It was over the $400 goal but they changed how they display the goal money so now it's closer to $350. It's actually more accurate this way, as it reflects what artists are actually getting after fees, but I had really been looking forward to that goal. Anyway if you like my comics and want to support them backing me on Patreon is the best way to do it.

In non-art news: some friends and I started a youtube channel where we play games and say stuff. We're playing Undertale right now and posting three videos a week. At the moment we can only record relatively low-resource PC games but I'm hoping if the channel does well I can upgrade the equipment.

Also TWIYEH comes back on monday! Some of you may know I'd planned to do a kickstarter to get the most recent book printed. I'm still planning to do that but I've had to postpone it due to being sick.

SOCIETY6 SALE!

Whoa it is a really big sale you guys! Free shipping and $5 off everything!

If you like my art and would like some art on a thing now is a good time to get something!

Use this link!

It's only good for a short time though so you might wanna get on it.

If you would like to commission me please email me at secretcollect@gmail.com or kytri@skyscrapersoup.com

It’s that time again! Commissions are open! I drew a lot of stuff in October but the vast majority of it is on my Tumblr.

I still don’t have a day job and would really like to be able to keep it that way. Working from home suits me really well and I’ve been happier since I left the coffee shop than I’ve been in a long time but I still need to pay my bills. Commissioning me would really help me out and get you some pretty cool custom art.

Also commissioned art makes a great gift! But it takes time to make. So if you’d like to get a commission for somebody for Christmas November is a great time to do it. I can’t guarantee any commissions taken after December 7 will be done in time for Christmas.

Thanks for taking the time to read all this if you did! Heart

I just wrote an extremely long post with commission samples on Tumblr. kytri.tumblr.com/post/11666316…

If you have any interest in commissioning me please read it.

If you would like to contact me via DA you absolutely can but I don't always check here regularly. Tumblr and email are the fastest ways to get a response.
Because I realized that not everybody will read the comments.

I'm rarely on deviantart anymore please follow my Tumblr (kytri.tumblr.com) if you'd like to keep up with me.

I'm having major surgery on my chest in two days and afterwards I will not have functioning arms for a time. As such I'm having to put the comics on hold. I'll try to get back to work as soon as possible but I don't know when that will be as it's dependent on how quickly I heal.

So I'm not on deviantart a whole lot anymore but I figure I ought to make periodic updates. Things are happening in my life and the world, but I am only an expert on one of those.
If you enjoy my webcomic TWIYEH did you know that you can get books of it? It's true!

Volume 4 just came out. As of this writing I'm getting ready to head out to the post office to ship books out to all the lovely Ghouls who preordered them.

I still have lots of books though so if you'd like one you can order one here kytri.storenvy.com/
If you prefer digital books I also have those on Gumroad: gumroad.com/kytri (Book 4 is uploading as I type and will be there soon)
I'll also be at a couple of conventions in September, and you can get books from me there.
I'll be at SPX on the second weekend of September and AWA on the last weekend.

Keep up with my every day life dealings, ask me questions (I do answer them!), and also I posts sketches sometimes.

Patreon:  www.patreon.com/kytri
If you really like my work and would like to help me continue to make things you can subscribe to my Patreon for as little as $1 a month. That dollar gets you access to pages a bit early, sent right to your email! People who pledge $2 or more also get access to a fun special Adult-Rated side comic featuring Jordi and Jeremy.
Currently I have to work a low-paying day job in order to keep my bills paid which greatly cuts into the time I have to make comics for you all, but if 1000 people pledged $1 that would be enough for me to quit the day job and comic full time, if 1000 people gave $2 that would be enough for me to live like a human.

Support K L Thompson creating Comics!

I'm making a more official post! I now have an account with Patreon!

Using this service I can take monthly subscriptions to my comics. So if you ever wanted to support the comic this is a great way to do it.

You can subscribe for as little as $1 a month, but you can pledge any amount you want.

Anyone who pledges $1 or more gets to see the comics a day early, and anyone who pledges $10 or more will get their name on a special thanks section of the site, AND in the next book.

And that's just the beginning, I'll be expanding on this in the future.

Cool!

By chipping in a little you can help me get the comic updating more frequently again, as I won't have to work as many hours at the coffee shop.

Want to help but can't chip in? Don't worry! You can help by sharing the page with others and recommending my work in general. Show TWIYEH to your friends! Show it to your enemies! Show it to your pets! Show it to your friends' enemies' pets!

Together we can make comics happen! <3<3 -Kytri

Biscuit's fundraiser is over! It didn't quite make the goal but the money that was raised will help lessen the financial burden on my friends.

Thanks to everybody who donated or shared the link.

In other news I've moved my webstore over to storenvy: kytri.storenvy.com/

I'm selling page originals now. Each page is a one of a kind piece of art so once a particular page is sold it will never be available again. As of this writing I have the first ten pages of the first book available, and I'll be adding more depending on how quickly they sell.

Also: I've gotten a PO Box. I don't much expect people to send me anything but I'm sharing the box with Paul and Iggy, Biscuit's parents.

If you'd like to send Biscuit (or his brother Gumball) any get well presents, like cat toys (no catnip please, he's rambunctious enough), or little bow ties you can send them to

Biscuit Catterson Jones

PO Box 917

Morrisville NC, 27560

Please don't send food or treats since Biscuit has to be on a special diet now.

This is Biscuit and his brother Gumball.

Biscuit and Gummy belong  to my friends Paul and Iggy. They are amazing artists!  Recently Biscuit got very sick and needed emergency surgery to save his life. The surgery was expensive.

Like, crazy expensive.

Being artists who still need to pay the basics of bills like rent and student loans Paul and Iggy aren't exactly rolling in cash and need help paying for Biscuit's medical bills.

They've set up an Indie Gogo campaign to help raise money for this and are offing art in exchange for helping keep their cat alive.  I am also doing some art for the campaign! If you like art and kitties you should consider contributing!

Let me tell you about my con schedule!

I'm tabling at three more conventions this year

Small Press Expo: Sept. 14-15 in Bethesda Maryland
Anime Weekend Atlanta: Sept. 27-29 in Atlanta Georgia
NC ComicCon: Nov. 9-10 in Durham North Carolina

I'll also be at Dragoncon in Atlanta on labor day weekend. I won't be tabling though.

I just doublechecked my work schedule between now and Dragoncon and I have exactly one day off. Meaning I won't be able to produce enough extra comics to cover the span I'll be gone for. So there will be no Sin Pararse page on Friday, August 30, and no TWIYEH pages for Monday, September 2, or Wednesday, September 4. Sorry! Both comics will go back to their normal schedules after I get back.

I'll be at Heroescon in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend with my super cool bro Pickles!

We'll have comics and lots of other cool things! Come see us at table AA-1125!

Pickles even made this sweet ass graphic so you can find us!

If you can't make it to that here's the other cons I'll be at this year:
Small Press Expo: Sept. 14-15 in Bethesda Maryland
Anime Weekend Atlanta: Sept. 27-29 in Atlanta Georgia
NC ComicCon: Nov. 9-10 in Durham North Carolina
So about that book.

Yesterday I penciled the last page of chapter 3, so it's about time I start thinking about the book.

My stocks of volume 1 and 2 are starting to get kind of small so I need to think about reprinting them too.

And I need a new convention banner.

All together that's going to cost me about $1200, and that's not including the ISBNs I want to buy, which would make it closer to $1500.

I don't really have that kind of money lying around. I'm thinking about doing a Kickstarter to raise the money. After fees I'd need $1800-$2000 but I'm actually a little dubious of being able to raise that much. It's modest for a Kickstarter but more than double what I typically make off my website in a year.

Anyway I guess if I did the Kickstarter or took preorders would any of you back it?

Are there any special backer incentives that would convince you to back it?
I should probably bump that old journal off my profile.

Thanks everyone for being patient with me while I was on break. I feel a lot more rested now. It's a little hard getting back into the habit of drawing for so many hours every day but I'm glad I took a little time off.

Anyway if you don't follow me on Tumblr I put together one of those year in review art thingies a week or so ago. kytri.tumblr.com/image/3833305…
I hope I'll be drawing better by the end of 2013.
Here's a quick informal poll for yous guys:

I mentioned before that there's a chance of me missing comic updates due to my work schedule. My boss Mike and his wife just had their baby last week and Mike's mother is very very ill. Like they're worried she may die soon ill. As a result my hours at work are getting pushed up and my days off are extremely unreliable.

Also I don't know if I've mentioned it but I'm having some trouble with my hands. I've always had skin problems, but it's especially bad on my hands. The skin kind of cracks and flakes off and bleeds, lotions help a little but I'm allergic to most lotions. I don't like to talk about it because it's super gross and I don't want to look like a hypochondriac.  Anyway it's been like this for a while now. My fingers will start to heal and then get worse again, and it's usually either extremely itchy or extremely painful.

Anyway point is I'm pretty stressed and sometimes in a lot of pain. I can't take off my day job because they need me and I need the money. Furthermore I draw three full color comic pages a week, at least.

I might need to give myself a little time off the comics in December. So here are the options:

1: Drop down to one TWIYEH page a week and a Sin Pararse Page every other week for four weeks.

or

2: Take two weeks off both comics, probably around Christmas/New Years when many people are offline anyway.

It would amount to the same number of comic pages either way, even my work load would probably be about the same, the only thing that's different is the release schedule. What do you think?
Obviously I can't post things made by others on deviantart but I can post links!

I got a bunch of totally rad guest art for the two weeks between TWIYEH chapter 1 and 2. I'll try and edit this post whenever a new one goes up so you guys can see them.

Here's the first one: worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… sent in by luckyenigma

Hey it's officially wednesday time for guest art number 2: worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… sent in by Niza-Niabock

A couple of people have asked about still sending things in even though the deadline is passed. I'm  more or less full up on art for the site itself but if you send me somehting now I'll put a link in on the last post on my site before the comic starts back. I post links here at the same time.

Also be sure to check my site on friday. I'm going to be gone for Heroescon and probably won't be able to update SP here or this post until after I get back. However both are queued up to post automatically while I'm gone.

Otherwise if you're going to be at Heroescon or just in the Charlotte NC area you should come by and see me at the con. I'll be at table AA-25 with sarahpicklesdill

I'm back from Heroescon! I had a lot of fun despite the fact that we were in a car accident on Friday morning. We were just making a quick trip to a nearby target to get some stuff and almost ran into an SUV coming down the parking garage ramp in the wrong lane. But I saw him and stopped with plenty of space for him to get around.  He proceeded to drive right into us, mangled the front of my car, and sped off as soon as I wasn't looking. Neither Pickles nor I are hurt, fortunately, but I don't know if my car is going to be okay or not yet. My car is 10 years old and worth only about $1000 in perfect condition so it may be totaled if there's significant internal damage. I know there is some because it was dripping fluid. You may see me selling every art if I need to buy a new car. I can't really afford a new car.

ANYWAY GUEST ART

On Friday I posted a very nice drawing of Miguel worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… from xXJewelynXx You can also see it on her DA here fav.me/d54m7jb

And today on Monday we have a really cool drawing of Nicole worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… from xRae-Asakurax It's also on the artist's DA fav.me/d53m8ek

I am a terrible person and forgot to edit this.

Wednesday post: worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… Calcifer-Boheme drew Gabry and Liam as old timey cartoons. It's also on DA fav.me/d559oyp

And Friday: worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/2… Number-36 actually sent in two drawings. One of Nicole and one of Cynthia.

Also oxytreza sent this in a little bit too late to actually go into a post oxytreza.deviantart.com/art/Fa…
So, uh, I just finished penciling the last page of TWIYEH! chapter 2. I'm going to be at Heroescon www.heroesonline.com/heroescon… at the end of June and would really like to have to book ready by then. I think I can do it but I might have to put the start of chapter 3 off by a week or two.

So! Do you have a webcomic? Do you want some free advertisement to my readers? Do you just want to draw some super cool TWIYEH! stuff?

Sure you do! If you answered yes to any of those questions you should create something send it to me via note on deviantart or email at secretcollect@gmail.com Submissions should be related to TWIYEH!, be 800 pixels wide, and be work-safe. I'll accept comics, stand alone illustrations, and even fiction if you've got an 800 px wide image to go with it.

Thanks everybody! <333333

Edit: Some people have asked about deadlines, the deadline is June 16th!

ALSO: I'm doing a character Q&A in the back of the book like I did with chapter 1. This time the panelists are Nicole, Cynthia, and Jeremy and they'll answer questions about Elves and Beastmen and what it's like to be one. Feel free to drop questions for them in the comments here.
